Phineas and Ferb Review

Phineas and Ferb- Across the 2nd Dimension Wii game

I will admit that I am one of ‘those’ parents who generally moan every time my boys are looking at a screen, be it Playstation, Xbox, Wii or just plain old TV!!

They are also of an age where the games are centred around general violence ( my eldest is 13 and we stretch to age 15/16 war style games only!!). I am told on a regular basis that I am the only mum in the world that does not allow age 18 games!! ( but I know that is so not true from talking to a few other mums. My youngest (age 11) is not allowed to play his brothers games and is restricted to age 12’s.

So we were given the chance to review this game which I asked my two if they would be interested before accepting! To my shock and surprise they wanted to. Something to do with it being Phineas and Ferb- which both of them absolutely love ( and to be honest is one of the kids programmes I actually find very funny!! The game itself is targetted at 6-12 year olds and although we were sent the Wii version it is also available for Playstation 3.

The Wii version of the game!

So here’s the technical stuff:

* Play as one of 8 characters from the upcoming Disney Channel Original Movie- including an all new agent

* Master special combat moves and learn to use each character’s favourite wacky gadget

* Explore and conquer 24 outrageous levels through the worlds of gelatin, bouncy balloons, old school cartoons and more

* Enjoy Platypus day and Halloween themed environments

Participate in drop in, drop out anytime 2- player co-op play

I’ve got to say that it was actually a nice to hear the boys playing nicely together (this does not happen very often in this house). Although we did get off to a false start when they started to argue and I made them turn it off!! Once they realised that they had to work together in the game things ran much more smoothly.

Words from the boys:

‘ graphics were good’

‘the gadgets that the characters get to use were well thought out’

‘the storyline was good’

‘Ferb was definitely the best character’

‘tutorial was very clever and helped you get to know the controls quickly’

‘the carbonator was brilliant!’

So there you have it- from 2 boys who are used to ‘shoot em ups’ with super duper graphics gave it the ‘THUMBS UP’!!

I actually enjoyed listening to them play together and have a laugh at the same time. So this game also gets the ‘Thumbs up’ from me as anything that makes my 2 play together with no arguing is worth it’s weight in gold!!

Photo evidence that they did actually play together ....and survive!!
